BRIEF BITS

not the greatest photo (sorry!), but i thought it was funny how every time i go to paint something i change my approach. what was going to be a totally raw umber moody painting is now i think (?) going to be quite different. no matter how i try to limit my palette i can never get the same flesh tone twice though > i need to concentrate and be steadfast. but anyways. the big news: orange. trying to mix old master tonal quality and lustruous ambery colors does not mix with gestural i have found. but that orange is with a nice Stil de Grain i just plunked down for (way totally traditional Dutch and expensive). so far it’s doing the trick.
